The Great Blizzard of ’08

It snowed in the ‘Sip this weekend y’all!

 See?

The snow really was quite lovely as it came down – unfortunately it didn’t stick around long.  Lovegirl was not impressed.  “Mama, it snows better than this in Kansas City!”  Yes Love, it does.

We’re chilling on this MLK holiday.  Smoochy’s at work (he brought his truck home this weekend for the first time – niiiice), so Lovegirl and I got up and went for pancakes this morning, bought a set of sheets to go with my new comforter set (I may not make it to work tomorrow), and headed on in so she could get her nap on.  We’re off to the gym this afternoon, and then tonight we’ll enjoy dinner – smothered turkey cutlets, okra and tomatoes, rice, and black eyed peas.  Well, no turkey for me, it’s meatless monday.

Anyhoo, hope everyone had a great weekend and day off.  Peace and joy to you and yours.  There’s a serious blog entry floating around in my head, and I hope I’m able to piece it together well enough to post it.  We shall see.

Oh – today I’m wearing “Om” from The G*ap.  I must’ve gotten it as a stocking stuffer.  It’s not something I’d buy myself.

  1. Sounds like the perfect day. I did some serious chillin’ too.

I go meatless for breakfast and lunch everyday, but the wife cooks to darn well to keep it up through dinner!

  2. Keith – it was nice, glad to hear that yours was as well. If it weren’t for my serious born-and-bred in the meat-n-potatoes south husband, I’d probably give up meat altogether. Or maybe not – I love a good burger every once in a while!

  3. The great blizzard….okay? We live in Brandon, too (just read that in your 101 things) and people were calling Saturday morning waking me up asking did I see the snow. By the time my son whined enough and I finally crawled up outta bed at about 10, there was no trace of any snow. Oh, and yesterday I decided that I’d cut my red meat intake down significantly. Haven’t felt the pain yet, but when it hits, I’ll just go get me a Stamps Turkey Burger — deelish!

Anyway, love your blog, I’ll be back again to see what’s going on on your end of B-town!

  4. What??? Snow in Mississippi???

I wouldn’t be surprised to see it here in LA. It’s been SO cold. Instead it’s just been raining all week. I’m not complaining because we need it.

My eldest told me today that he’s half vegetarian and half carnivore. He’d be a good candidate for meatless Monday.

  5. @ Pserendipity – welcome – thanks for stopping by! I found it funny that all the adults were so excited by the snow and the children were rather nonchalant about it all. You MUST tell me the secret of how you’re able to stay in bed ’til 10 on a Saturday. I’d pay to know! Really. My girl gets up no later than 6:30 every morning! How old is your son? I love Stamps – I’m all about the Jr. Turkey Burger w/smothered onions, mushrooms and cheese. Maybe this weekend . . . .

@ Los Angelista – yes ma’am – snow! It really was a beautiful sight. My mom was just telling me how cold it is in Cali – the last Christmas we were there – ’05 I think – it was colder there than it was here.

Half veg/Half carni – let me know how that works out for him! :) Lovegirl just told me that she will eat okra. But only on Tuesdays. I’m not sure what that’s about!

  6. The secret to napping till 10, Grasshopper, is a Friday night without bedtime, yogurt & a kool-aid drink, and a Doodlebops DVD.

You must first be willing to have a wide-open Friday night, including any physical activity that can be done in the home. When you can’t take any more, put the child in bed. If said child is still willing to stay up, insert Doodlebops DVD, make an idle threat that they are NOT to leave the bed, and wait about 6 minutes until they fall asleep. When Saturday morning rolls around and child wakes early, the DVD comes into play again, and quiet is kept with the yogurt and the kool-aid drink. Before you know it….WAY before you know it, it’ll be 10.

My son is 3, but, seriously, he’s always been a night owl. He hates waking up, so at least ONE day a week that’s good.
