21. A Fave Photo of Me

My brother sent me this picture the other day and it tickled me to no end.  Mostly because we were all together and acting a fool.  Four out of the four people in this picture were quite tipsy.  One of them fell asleep at the table.  Might have been me.  Might not have been.

And this picture, posted out of order, concludes the February Photo Challenge.  I took all the pictures when I was supposed to – though they weren’t necessarily posted in timely manner. ‘Twas fun while it lasted!

...and our lower cabinets. The green towels are mine. The brown ones are Smoochy's. If I ever fold laundry again, the bottom shelf will be occupied with the towels I use to dry my/LG's hair.

Book Club – The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks

I don’t even know where to start with this one.  I thought the book was great.  And that the Lacks family is, to quote Smoochy, “slap-ass crazy.”

I should’ve written this post when I finished the book – back in early January.  But since I didn’t…. Jump in and tell me what you thought about Henrietta, her immortal cells, and her family’s quest for truth and knowledge.

Oh, I do remember one question I wanted to pose…are you surprised at the lack of control we have over our “discarded tissue?”  The fact that someone could use and profit from my cells once I voluntarily dispose of them blows my mind.

Friday Five

1. Y’all.  I’ve really, truly started tracking the books I’m reading.  Check out “Book Nook 2012″ if you are so inclined.  It’s right there at the top of the page…
2. Speaking of books, don’t forget that we’re coming together on Monday to discuss Henrietta Lacks.  I can’t wait!!!
3. I absolutely adore the My Fitness Pal app.  While I am still consuming way more sugar than I should be, I at least have my caloric intake under control and I’m pretty sure I’ll be at my goal weight by mid-April at the latest.
4. I bought a new top coat last night – Essie’s “Good To Go.”  I’m not good.  My manicure is less than 24 hours old and there’s already wear at the tips.  For $10 a bottle, I need Essie to do better.
5. Operation Get Smoochy Another Job is in full effect. And by full effect I mean I’ve been praying that he get a job at the Nissan plant.  I’m ready for him to come off the road.  We shall see…

23. Shoes

"Yo Doug with your Ballys on" Yeah, I've owned these flats since half past forever. They are some of the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned and I faithfully pull them out on casual Fridays, rock them with pride, and rap at least one bar of "The Show."
