Laid back. My husband and I both like to hike and learn about the place we’re visiting but in my heart of hearts, I like to sit by the beach with a book.

Probably three or four – (flats, boots/sandals (depending on weather), dressy shoe, hiking/activity shoe)

I make a new list for each trip too! One for me, one for LG – and I pack it to make sure I don’t leave anything behind when we’re coming back. I get clowned mercilessly for this 🙂
I’m all about the jewelry too. One of my faves is a ceramic bead necklace that I bought in China. I don’t wear it a lot because I’m afraid it’ll come apart, but it is one of my favorite souvenirs.
That is a GREAT idea. Much, much better than my current system, which mostly consists of checking to make sure I haven’t left anything and then rechecking obsessively again and again until someone drags me out of a door.

I’ve never been to NY – gotta make that happen soon. When will you be in NOLA? Not that I’m inviting myself down or anything…
1. This year, we are going to D.C. for Buddha’s spring break. We want to visit the White House and a few other sites. I’m LONG overdue for an adults’ only vacation but I have no idea when that would take place. Family trip will have to suffice.
2. A packing list? What’s that? Lol. I have a toiletry bag that stays packed for traveling. I update that and then plan wardrobe pieces based on where I’m going and when. I count the days I’m gone and add 3 outfits to that. Done.
3. If my trip includes lots of walking, I prefer comfortable shoes. Knowing me, I’d carry around an extra pair of shoes. Born is a good walking brand. You can never go wrong with a pair of tennis shoes. New Balance is my preferred brand.
4. International travel is on my wish list of things to do.
5. I don’t have a certain type of souvenir I purchase for myself. Now, I don’t buy many souvenirs for other people when I travel. It depends on where I go. If I like it, I buy it. I don’t necessarily need anything with the destination’s name on it. Mister collects shot glasses (that are NOT on display) so he’d be the one to make the touristy purchases.
6. I prefer a combination of the two for a trip. Build in a day of relaxation and then do activities on the other days. Especially if it’s to somewhere I’ve never been. I’m trying to get my money’s worth! I’ll come home and have a vacation from my vacation, lol.
7. I pack shoes based on outfits. If I’m flying, I base it on my luggage and whether I’m paying for my bag.
8. My favorite vacation solo vacation was when I went to NYC (I got to fly a plane) and my favorite family vacation was to Gatlinburg, TN for a family reunion.
Taking LG to D.C. is high on my list of future trips – I think it would be awesome. Y’all have a good time!

My packing list really helps me – I weed out a lot of unnecessary stuff and it helps me plan around a central color or two. Next trip I’m packing blues and greens. Weird, I know 🙂
1)I don’t think I’m doing anything big this year. Just some day trips or a weekender.
2) I don’t write anything down but I start lining up outfits in the guest room at least 2 weeks ahead.
3) Sneakers or some comfy flats. I wore sandals on a long trek through Naples and trip on every single cobblestone in the street!
4) I take my cell phone and can never use it. Well I could use it on a cruise once the ship was out to sea. I never take a laptop.
5) I always plan what I’m going to purchase based on where I’m going. I always want art work and jewelry no matter where I go.
6) A lot of activity, less relaxation. And that’s why I come back from vacations exhausted. LOL

8) Cape Town South Africa by FAR!!! Next cruise stops in Mykonos Greece, and Turkey. I will be going back to all three!
I’m going to try to pick up a small piece of art next time I travel – my parents have done this and they’ve found some really great pieces. I’m looking forward to buying some fab earrings in Morocco.

I commented on TIH’s blog the other day about it but we were planning for a cruise but the Carnival debacle scared me off. Mistah is still open. He says as long as we don’t use Carnival “we’ll be straight”. Sigh…….

If your trip includes lots of walking, what type of shoes do you prefer? An athletic shoe. Flats are cute but arch support is cuter IMO.

What type of souvenir do you usually purchase for yourself? Things I can use like t-shirts and refrigerator magnets. I’m not much on knickknacks to put on shelves. It just causes clutter and ends up being one more thing to dust.

*I will pack my sneakers for walking.

*I will take my cellphone. I thought about the ipad but Ithink I will leave it home.

I never do a lot of walking, except from the swim up bar to my lounge chair

I take both, but never use my cell to talk, only text if I can’t do it on Wifi from the tablet, which is what happened when I went to Jamaica last year, no signal in my room!

Are you going anywhere for vacation this year? Have you already been on vacation? Big vacation is DR and family vacation in Va. Also have New Orleans for Essence. Want to take a cruise around Thanksgiving. Already did Orlando for Princess…which wasn’t really a vacation.
